Proposed Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 16.1, which sets forth procedures for handling Multi-district Litigations (MDLs), is likely to go into effect in December 2025. The presentation will explain what issues in MDLs prompted the creation of Rule 16.1, and what Rule 16.1 does and does not do. The presentation will also suggest potential best practices for dealing with Rule 16.1, particularly with a view toward improving the efficiencies of MDLs and facilitating early vetting of cases.

Each of these programs are presumptively approved for 1.0 CLE credit in California, Connecticut, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and West Virginia. Applications for CLE credit will be filed in Delaware, Florida, Ohio, and Virginia. Attendees who are licensed in other jurisdictions will receive a uniform certificate of attendance but Reed Smith only provides credit for the states listed. Please allow 4-6 weeks after the program to receive a certificate of attendance.
