International law firm Reed Smith Richards Butler LLP is pleased to announce the appointment of Rex Rosales as a Partner in the finance group, based in London. Rex, who will play a significant role in growing Reed Smith Richards Butler’s international asset finance and securitisation practice, joins the firm from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he has been a Partner for the last 6 years.
Rex, who is also qualified as a barrister and solicitor in Quebec, has a particular expertise in advising clients on structured asset finance transactions in the transportation (aviation, rail and shipping) and media sectors. His practice encompasses the financing of all large asset classes, including aircraft, ships and trains. He is widely recognised in the market for his work on the groundbreaking development of the use of the capital markets to finance big-ticket assets in Europe, notably acting for Iberia, Calyon and, more recently, CMA CGM in the shipping sector. Rex has also held positions at Ogilvy Renault in Canada, and prior to that, at Clifford Chance.
Reed Smith Richards Butler has been consistently recognised by the legal directories as a leader in the structuring of asset finance transactions, in particular in the ship finance, film finance, property finance and trade finance sectors.
Tim Foster, UK Managing Partner at Reed Smith Richards Butler LLP commented:
“Rex’s appointment reflects our commitment to the continuing development and growth of the finance practice in both London and internationally. His expertise in the aviation, shipping and media sectors fits naturally with the firm's strategic sector focuses in these fields.”
Rex Rosales added:
“The firm’s strong reputation in the US, coupled with its market-leading position in the shipping sector, is a particularly attractive proposition for the future growth of my practice. I am very much looking forward to joining the team.”
