Hemming became a partner at Reed Smith in 2007, when his former firm, Sachnoff & Weaver combined with Reed Smith. He was a member of the Sachnoff & Weaver Board of Directors and co-head of that firm's Private Equity Group. In addition to serving as outside general counsel for a numerous corporations, he represents technology and other entrepreneurial companies in connection with securities matters, corporate finance matters, licensing arrangements, development agreements and joint ventures.

The Illinois native earned his law degree in 1985 from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and his undergraduate degree in 1982 from the University of Illinois.
