Global law firm Reed Smith has advised leading online auction house Auctionata on its acquisition of London-based valuation company ValueMyStuff (VMS). The transaction involved Auctionata acquiring 100 per cent of the share capital of VMS.

VMS offers fee-based valuations with a team of over 60 fine art, luxury objects, antiques and collectibles specialists who have formerly worked at major international auction houses. The acquisition will allow Auctionata to expand its expertise to provide fast and reliable valuations, further advancing its rapid international expansion, particularly into the United Kingdom.

The Reed Smith team was led by partners Leon Stephenson and Mike Young. Associate James Boulton also worked on the sale and purchase agreement, and partner Caspar Fox and associate Brett Rawlings advised on the tax aspects.

Reed Smith partner Leon Stephenson commented:

“We’re delighted to have received our first instruction from Auctionata and to work on this important deal for them. Auctionata is a fast growing business and we would like to continue to partner with them as they continue their expansion and growth in the UK and Europe.”
