Global law firm Reed Smith has advised Eastern Horizon on the acquisition of ES Automobilguss GmbH.

Eastern Horizon is the principal investment arm of Prevent, which has a long track record of success in the automotive industry both in building businesses organically and partnering with business owners to build businesses. Prevent traces its roots to 1952 when the group was founded and has made numerous acquisitions since, growing to a company employing more than 15,000 people worldwide.

ES Automobilguss GmbH is a metal castings company located in Schönheide, Germany, supplying key components for gears. The acquisition will help Prevent Group to expand its range with a new component.

Reed Smith advised Eastern Horizon with an integrated team on all aspects of the acquisition, including corporate, tax, labour and employment, and merger control law. The team was led out of Frankfurt by corporate partners Rolf Hünermann and Dr Octávio de Sousa and included finance partner Dirk-Peter Flor in Frankfurt, tax partner Thomas Gierath and labour and employment partner Dr Marc H. Spielberger in Munich, as well as associates Maximilian Santüns and Marc Bäumer in Frankfurt.

Reed Smith Frankfurt partners Rolf Hünermann and Dr Octávio de Sousa commented: “We were delighted to work with Eastern Horizon and Prevent to support their expansion plans in the automotive industry. This is the first transaction we have closed as an integrated German team since opening our Frankfurt office in June, and so this deal is very important to us.”
