PITTSBURGH, Pa. July 14, 2016 –Reed Smith LLP today announced that the firm will be a sponsor of Colin (“Col”) Swatton, the coach and caddie of Jason Day, the reigning PGA Champion and the number one ranked golfer in the world. Swatton is one of the leading coaches in golf and has developed some of Australia’s best junior golfers.

“We were drawn to the mentoring, counseling and perseverance that Col brings every day to his relationships. We believe it mirrors the dedication and commitment we have towards our clients,” said Sandy Thomas, Reed Smith’s Global Managing Partner.”

The opportunity to spend time with Swatton and ultimately sponsor Swatton came through the firm’s work with the Brighter Days Foundation. The foundation was established in 2011 by the golfer and his wife Ellie Day. It provides funding and resources to deserving projects and organizations helping families in need.

“So much of Col’s makeup resonated with us,” said Brad Schmarak, the firm’s client relationship partner for the Foundation. “Like Col, we work side-by-side with our clients, supporting them in every way we can to help them achieve their goals. Col’s support and guidance on and off the golf course is much like the role we strive to play with our clients.”

“Col has been there for me from the very beginning,” said Jason Day. I am delighted that the support and guidance Col gives me resonates so strongly with Reed Smith.”

Commenting on the sponsorship, Peter Bevacqua, Chief Executive Officer of the PGA of America, said, “This sponsorship is a very natural and astute extension of Reed Smith’s relationship with its clients. The fact that they would pursue this sponsorship with Col is a great example of the power and reach of golf and is a good example of the importance Reed Smith places on their relationships with their clients.”
