NEW YORK (September 12, 2016) – Reed Smith LLP today announced the addition of Jennifer Cheng as a partner in the firm’s global Corporate & Transactional Advisory Group (CTAG) in New York. Cheng was most recently with the New York office of Paul Hastings. The addition of Cheng follows on those of Jared Hershberg, Danielle Carbone, Andrew Callahan and Robbie Scheininger, who all joined CTAG in New York in the past year.

“Jennifer has proved to be an exceptionally driven and talented lawyer,” said CTAG leader Matt Petersen. “Her particular experience with public company, life sciences, and health care mergers and acquisitions, as well as her global perspective, will be strong additions to Reed Smith’s already robust corporate practice.”

Cheng’s practice focuses on representing public and private companies in domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, restructuring, divestitures and securities filings. Cheng also advises on issues of corporate governance and other general corporate matters.

Cheng received her Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales. Prior to Paul Hastings, she practiced at Weil, Gotshal & Manges and King & Wood Mallesons. Cheng is fluent in Cantonese.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer, who has earned the trust of her clients and colleagues, to our dynamic team in New York, now more than 175 lawyers strong,” said Cindy Minniti, managing partner of Reed Smith’s New York office. “Jennifer’s experience and industry knowledge are great additions to our corporate team.”

Reed Smith’s Corporate & Transactional Advisory Group is the principal practice group housing the firm’s capital markets, mergers & acquisitions, private equity, corporate governance, executive compensation and employee benefits, emerging growth / venture capital, private fund formation, transactional tax, and wealth planning practices. The group also supports overlapping industry teams, including automotive, energy, entertainment & media, financial services, hospitality, life sciences, health care, and shipping, to ensure that our attorneys have the industry-specific experience that clients require. This structure, coupled with the firm’s commitment to developing long-term client relationships, ensures that Reed Smith’s CTAG can consistently provide the same high standard of service regardless of the place, practice or industry where services are delivered.
