Global law firm Reed Smith has won Best Use of Technology at the Legal Week British Legal Awards 2016. The firm’s internally developed Deal Performance Platform™ was commended by the judges for its ability to streamline deal-closing activities and improve client satisfaction.

The judging panel, which was chaired by City of London Law Society chairman Alasdair Douglas, featured a heavyweight line-up of senior lawyers including GCs from companies such as BAE Systems, Aviva, HSBC, Barclays, Virgin Media, ASOS, Telefonica and EE, as well as Dame Janet Gaymer, chair of the House of Commons management board.

Reed Smith Chief Knowledge Officer, Lucy Dillon, commented: “We are delighted to have been recognised for our Deal Performance Platform™, which we developed in response to the rapidly-changing legal market. It is a great example of our constant drive for innovation and improvement.”

In other categories, Kyri Evagora, chair of the firm’s global Energy and Natural Resources Group, was recognised as a finalist for the prestigious Client Partner of the Year award, as voted for by clients. The firm was also shortlisted for CSR Initiative of the Year, following the launch of a domestic violence and family law clinic in Tower Hamlets, with partner firms Shearman & Sterling, Gibson Dunn, Ropes & Gray, and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom.
