Nick Shaw, the head of Reed Smith’s global Shipping Group, has been recognised as Lloyd’s List’s top maritime lawyer of 2018 and ranked fifth in the top 10 in marine insurance 2018.

As part of its latest top 100 most influential people in shipping series, Lloyd’s List, which has been an authority on maritime news since 1734, ranked the very best legal minds across maritime law and the very best global insurance power-brokers.

Nick was named as the ‘top maritime lawyer’ with the publication stating that: “Nick Shaw heads the global shipping practice at Reed Smith, which has impressed this year across litigation, finance and advisory work. Much of his work is behind closed doors, in arbitration.”

Lloyd’s List cited the ship finance team’s work advising Deutsche Bank on the strategic disposal of US$1bn of shipping loans, our advice on U.S. sanctions against Iran and work on the Sanchi collision case.
