The Professional Lawyer of the Year Awards are presented in cooperation with the bar associations across the state to lawyers who are respected by colleagues for their character, competence and exemplary professional behavior. More information about the Awards is available on the N.J. Bar Association’s Commission on Professionalism’s web site.

“The law is a noble profession. Professionalism in the law means valuing and improving the legal profession by demonstrating integrity, character, and honesty in representing our clients, respecting our peers, and serving the community at large,” López said.

López handles product liability and commercial litigation for drug and medical device manufacturers. Her experience includes working on single plaintiff matters, coordinated cases, and multidistrict litigation in both federal and state courts. Representative products in her mass tort litigation experience include contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy products and vaginal mesh. She counsels clients in all aspects of litigation from early case assessments and initial filings through resolution including trials.

She currently serves as the Hispanic National Bar Association’s national finance director, where she is leading a team of lawyers and legal professionals across the country who are tasked with communicating the bar’s supporters and sponsors to ensure the financial sustainability of the HNBA. In this role, she is also helping to implement national initiatives for Latinx attorneys and students, the community, and its strategic partners. She has been an active member of the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey since 2003 and an active board member since 2008, serving in various leadership positions, including a term as president last year.

In 2017, the HNBA recognized her as a Top Lawyer Under 40 and awarded her leadership at the HBA-NJ with the Affiliate of the Year Award. López also has been named to NJBiz’s Law Power 50 list of New Jersey’s most influential lawyers for two years running.
