International law firm Reed Smith rose to 11th place – up from 15th place last year – in the Thomson Reuters U.S. Law Firm Brand Index 2021, a recognition of its top-level litigation work and improved favorability score.

The Thompson Reuters Index – previously called the Acritas index before a November 2019 acquisition – is a strong measure of a law firm’s client reputation.

The Law Firm Brand Index includes firms that are most favored by corporate clients with more than $1 billion in global revenues, as well as most considered for multi-jurisdictional deals and litigation.

The brand index highlights firms that are uppermost in clients’ minds; that clients are most attracted to; and to whom they are most likely to send their work. The ratings are based on responses from more than 2,000 in-house counsel who have senior responsibility for buying legal services in large organizations.

Last year, Reed Smith rose 11 spots to 15th place in 2020 rankings.
