The anticipated reforms to the IR35 rules now will not go ahead as planned on 6 April 2020. Here’s a look at what the UK government announced.

In response to the business uncertainty arising from the current COVID-19 pandemic, the UK government announced last night (17 March 2020) that its planned reforms to the IR35/off-payroll rules in the private sector will be postponed by 12 months to 6 April 2021. There are currently no suggestions that this is a cancellation of their policy. Instead, it will give affected businesses one less thing to worry about during these unprecedented times.
