Pro bono is at the core of our identity and is an invaluable part of our culture, allowing us to make a positive difference by providing free legal advice to low-income individuals, charities and not-for-profit organizations.

Our focus areas include:

Protecting voting rights
Providing refugee resettlement and immigration assistance
Meeting the needs of children
Combating human trafficking
Supporting military veterans
Providing relief from natural disasters
Achieving justice for those wrongly convicted or sentenced

Highlights from our pro bono work include:

Through our Lamp Lifeboat Ladder project, we resettle in Canada refugee victims of torture and sexual violence from Jordan and Greece.
We work with Kids In Need of Defense (KIND) in both the U.S. and the UK. Our lawyers prepare applications for children and their families to regularize their immigration status. We also serve on KIND’s advisory boards.
We have a long tradition of assisting individuals on death row. We represent men on death row in Alabama and Texas as part of our firm’s commitment to challenging the disparate impact of the execution of African Americans.
We provide pro bono advice and representation to survivors of domestic abuse in need of protective injunctions through the Domestic Abuse Response Alliance in the UK.
Through our Afghan Pro Bono Initiative, we work in collaboration with 13 other law firms and the NGOs Safe Passage International and Refugee Legal Support to provide support to Afghans in dire need of immigration assistance.
We partner in court with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund to challenge discriminatory laws designed to infringe on voting rights of African Americans and other minorities.
We assist refugees and asylum seekers in Belgium through our Brussels Legal Helpdesk for asylum seekers.
Our Hong Kong office represents victims of labor exploitation and human trafficking in seeking compensation against their abusers, by providing legal advice on labor disputes.
Through our Ukraine Refugee Project, our volunteer lawyers travel to Warsaw, Poland, to provide free legal advice to people escaping the conflict in Ukraine and wishing to relocate to the United Kingdom.
We work with the Italian Coalition for Civil Liberties and Rights in their Rule 39 Initiative to help prepare interim measures applications to the European Court of Human Rights on behalf of asylum seekers.
We partner with the Center for Reproductive Rights in the U.S. as part of our pro bono work in the reproductive rights space.
