LONDON – The Reignite Academy, a unique collaboration involving Reed Smith and five other City law firms, won the Excellence in Direct Recruitment category and the Grand Prix award at The HR in Law Awards, held at a ceremony in London on 2 May.

Rechtsanwälte: M. Tamara Box

The Reignite Academy was founded in 2018 and seeks to enable ‘career break’ lawyers to return to private practice.  The project was driven by a desire to take practical actions to address the lack of women at senior levels in law firms by tapping into the potential of experienced lawyers who are ready to return after a career break.

The award judges were impressed by this pioneering and collaborative approach to critical resourcing issues, which also address a growing need to support lawyers seeking to re-enter the profession after a career hiatus.

Tamara Box, EME managing partner, commented: “I am delighted that the Reignite Academy has been recognised for its fantastic work. The Academy was founded by Lisa Unwin, Melinda Wallman and Stephanie Dillon.  Their vision and drive to take action to stem the loss of talented lawyers from the profession is inspirational.  Within Reed Smith we are enormously proud to be a part of this important initiative that provides vital support, training and encouragement to those looking to return.”
