England structures and negotiates complex debt transactions for some of the world’s largest organizations. In addition to her fund finance expertise, England also has extensive real estate finance experience, including her representation of borrowers and lenders in construction loans and other real-estate secured loans involving virtually every type of property use — raw land acquisition, industrial properties, hotels, and office and retail space.
England’s lending clients include national banks, regional banks, and alternative lenders. She also represents borrowers of all shapes and sizes, including closely held and public entities, both domestic and international.
Additionally, England advises her clients on mergers and acquisitions financings across a wide range of industries, on deals which typically involve complex intercreditor relationships requiring subordinated and mezzanine debt arrangements.
“Over the last two years, we have made it a strategic priority to bring on exceptional legal talent that will further grow our fund finance and private credit practices in the U.S., as well as complement our existing team in the U.K., Europe, and Asia,” said Jodi Schwimmer, global co-chair of Reed Smith’s Financial Industry Group. “Given the depth of her experience and her reputation among her lender and corporate clients for providing top-notch counsel on challenging finance and transactional matters, Erin is a fantastic fit for our team and we are thrilled that she has decided to bring her practice to Reed Smith.”
In addition to her client work, England is also a published author and has been frequently invited to speak on issues of personal and professional importance to her, including gender equity in the legal profession and work-life balance. She is also a current or former board member of professional and community organizations including 50/50 Women on Boards, Bold Women Society, the Dallas Women Lawyers Association, the National Association of Corporate Directors (North Texas Chapter), Women's Finance Exchange of Dallas, Women in Fund Finance, and the YMCA.
“Erin’s arrival continues to demonstrate Reed Smith’s commitment to building out a first-class, full-service legal offering in Dallas, where demand continues to be extremely high,” said Brian Mitchell, Reed Smith’s Dallas office managing partner. Erin is a highly-regarded and will be a welcomed addition to our ever-growing office.”
Recently ranked Band 1 in the 2023 Chambers UK rankings, in the London: Banking & Finance: Fund Finance category, Reed Smith’s fund finance practice is among the largest and most distinguished in the world, with the firm having represented most of the UK, European and U.S. financial institutions operating in the space. England’s arrival is the firm’s most recent response to a quickly evolving fund finance market in the U.S., following on Chris Davis joining as a partner in Washington D.C. in October.
“Reed Smith is the perfect combination of sophistication and practical legal solutions,” said England. “The firm has huge momentum in the fund finance space, and I am honored to be joining such a fantastic team.”
