Ted is a litigator in the Pittsburgh office, focusing his practice on complex commercial trials and appeals. He rejoined the firm in 2021 following a one-year clerkship with Judge D. Michael Fisher on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
As part of Reed Smith’s appellate practice, Ted has briefed cases in several federal courts of appeal and state appellate courts in Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey, and Texas. He has argued appeals at both the intermediate appellate and state supreme court levels, including the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, where his oral advocacy was commended. Clients and colleagues have entrusted Ted to handle high-stakes appellate arguments on issues of substantial and widespread importance, including an en banc argument before the entire 17-judge Court of Appeals of Virginia after successfully petitioning the full Court to hear the case. Additionally, his practice includes representing clients appearing as amicus curiae, including in the U.S. Supreme Court.
In addition to his appellate work, Ted supports trial teams with briefing complex legal issues in dispositive motions and other matters. Substantively, his experience covers a variety of areas, including class actions, managed care and ERISA, the False Claims Act, governmental investigations, product liability, financial services, insurance recovery, intellectual property, and general commercial litigation. He also dedicates significant time to pro bono matters, including advocating for the essential constitutional rights of those incarcerated.
Ted graduated first in his class from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and earned his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, in finance from the University of Pittsburgh. He co-edits the Third Circuit Bar Association’s newsletter, On Appeal, serves on the parish council of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Pittsburgh, and volunteers on multiple charitable boards that fund programs and provide scholarships for the youth.
