MUNICH (10 January 2017) – Global law firm Reed Smith comprehensively advised the Canadian company Rakuten Kobo Inc. on the acquisition of the tolino technology platform from Deutsche Telekom and the technology cooperation with the Tolino-Alliance. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close end of January 2017.

The e-reading-specialist Kobo steps into the Tolino alliance, which is one of the leading brands for digital reading in the German-speaking world, and becomes – in place of Deutsche Telekom – their new technology partner.
