Dimitris joined Reed Smith as an associate in our Transportation Industry Group in 2021, having previously worked with the firm as a trainee since 2019.
He is based in our Athens office and advises on both dry and wet shipping matters, acting for owners, charterers, and P&I Clubs. He is also a member of our global sanctions practice, and he regularly advises on pre-fixture due diligence requests.
Dimitris has experience in High Court and Court of Appeal litigation and LMAA arbitration. He has been involved in disputes arising from charterparties, bills of lading, and sales contracts, and he has also assisted in the enforcement of London arbitration awards. He regularly advises foreign shipping companies in relation to the establishment and winding up of branch offices in Greece, and he assists clients in international asset finance transactions. In addition, Dimitris leads and assists with several international pro bono projects.
Dimitris completed his Greek law degree at the University of Athens and obtained an LL.M. in International Business Law with first-class honors. He is dual qualified in Greece and England & Wales, and he is currently admitted to the Athens Bar and the Law Society.
