Jim is a member of the Financial Industry Group. His practice includes representation of lenders and borrowers in commercial finance matters and of issuers, underwriters and credit enhancers in taxable and tax exempt debt offerings.
In his bank finance practice, Jim serves as counsel to banks and private lenders, including agent banks, in the negotiation and documentation of commercial loan transactions, including senior and subordinated, secured and unsecured, bilateral and syndicated credit facilities. An area of particular focus has been fund finance, where Jim is a senior member of the Firm’s global fund finance team, representing lenders and borrowers alike in subscription lines and NAV facilities, both in the US and internationally. In addition, Jim represents clients on the borrower side of these transactions, obtaining financing for acquisitions, construction, inventory or working capital in multiple industries, including cannabis facilities.
Jim’s experience in public finance is extensive and diverse, including traditional tax exempt bond as well as securitized and project financings. Jim has served as bond, underwriter, bank and borrower counsel in bond issuances, and as both lender's and borrower's counsel on direct purchase bank bond credit agreements. He has also represented banks issuing letters of credit in connection with variable rate demand obligations.A significant portion of Jim’s public finance practice involves finance transactions in the healthcare, , higher education, non-profit, and infrastructure space.
