Matt is a partner in Reed Smith's Global Corporate Group. He leads the firm's Emerging Growth / Venture Capital Practice in the United States and is a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity Practices.

Matt maintains an extensive corporate and advisory practice, which includes:

  • Leading strategic and private equity-sponsored domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions and divestitures
  • Representing private equity and venture capital funds, as well as corporate venture capital groups, with their investments, recapitalizations and portfolio company oversight
  • Serving as outside general counsel to emerging growth and middle-market companies – providing legal and business advice in all areas that affect their organizations (from formation to exit), including corporate governance, capital-raising, securities and corporate finance matters, and joint ventures
  • Counseling public and private companies with their general corporate matters, such as the preparation, review and negotiation of business-critical commercial agreements, and the structuring and management of corporate reorganizations
