Noh and Fox bring complementary strengths to Reed Smith’s private capital offering: Noh adds significant private funds and investment management capabilities, while Fox brings more than a decade of experience building relationships among fund managers, investors, and dealmakers across the private equity market.
Their arrivals build on significant investment in the platform, including the addition of 14 private capital partners in recent months. Those hires include Omar Hemady, Claudette Druehl, and their team, who joined Reed Smith from White & Case as part of the firm’s expansion into Boston.
“We are deliberately investing in the capabilities and relationships that private capital clients need from their law firms,” said Matthew Mohn, co-chair of Reed Smith’s Global Corporate Group. “Nathan strengthens an important part of our private funds offering, while Rob deepens our connectivity across the private equity market. Together, they further our strategy of building a platform that can support clients across the investment lifecycle.”
Noh joins from Cravath, Swaine & Moore and advises fund sponsors, founders, and institutional investors on the formation and operation of private funds and accounts, investment vehicles, and joint ventures. He also advises on asset management M&A matters, with experience spanning strategic partnerships, seed/stakes, liquidity solutions, platform restructurings, and succession planning.
“I’m excited to join Reed Smith at a time of significant momentum for its private capital practices,” said Noh. “The firm has built a strong multidisciplinary platform and has a clear ambition to continue growing its private funds capabilities. I was particularly attracted by the opportunity to collaborate across practices and markets to advise sponsors and investors on increasingly sophisticated fund structures, transactions, and strategic opportunities.”
Fox joins from McGuireWoods, where he served as managing director, private equity. He has spent more than a decade developing relationships across the private equity ecosystem, including with fund managers, dealmakers, capital allocators, and other market participants. At Reed Smith, he will work alongside Brian Murchie, senior client development advisor for the Private Equity Group, and the firm’s private equity leadership to expand relationships and identify opportunities across the market.
“Rob brings a sophisticated understanding of the private equity market, an exceptional network, and a proven ability to build relationships across the industry,” said Christopher M. Sheaffer, global vice-chair of Reed Smith’s Private Equity Group. “Clients increasingly expect their law firms to bring more than legal advice to the relationship. Rob will help us create those connections and opportunities while extending our reach across the private equity community.”
“I have spent much of my career connecting people and opportunities throughout the private equity community, and I see tremendous potential in what Reed Smith is building,” said Fox. “The firm has strong momentum and exceptional capabilities. I look forward to working with Brian Murchie and colleagues throughout the firm to strengthen relationships, create opportunities for clients, and expand Reed Smith’s reach in the market.”
