The ABCs of an MDL: Lessons learned through the lens of a case

Monday, November 9 | 2:30 - 4 pm ET

With more than half of all cases pending in the federal courts now docketed in multidistrict litigations (MDLs), companies facing large-scale litigation can likely expect to find themselves before the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) with an MDL on the horizon.  While MDLs are most common in product liability actions, they span the gamut of mass-litigation contexts, including antitrust, air disasters, employment practices, intellectual property, sales practices, and securities. Using a product liability fact pattern, this webinar will provide an introduction to JPML and MDL procedure, including the latest trends and strategic tips for managing your caseload from corporate discovery through trial pool selection. Because many MDL cases are eventually remanded to their transferor courts, we will also discuss strategies that anticipate remand, what happens after remand, and best practices to position your clients for success at trial.

The webinar will also consider which arbitration jurisdictions and rules can be the most effective when dealing with cross-border transactions.
