The U.S. Supreme Court’s unanimous Bauman decision dramatically altered how plaintiffs and defendants would have to address “general jurisdiction” in civil litigation. Our panelists will explain how the general jurisdiction doctrine has shifted after 60 years of courts examining “continuous and systematic” business contacts, and discuss how the federal judiciary has implemented Bauman over the past year since the Court’s decision. They will also offer detailed suggestions on how defendants can oppose plaintiffs’ claims of general jurisdiction.
