Where laws do not adequately enable women’s economic participation, how has the private sector filled in the gap? This session will explore the initiatives of private sector companies in both developing and developed countries to go beyond minimum legal standards in promoting gender equality in the workplace. Comprehensive sexual harassment prevention policies, support for nursing mothers, employer-supported childcare and flexible work arrangements are just a few examples of what some companies are doing to improve gender equality in their workforce.
