This is our first in-person conference since the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020. The last few years have been underscored by uncertainty and, at first, we were unsure if we would hold an in-person conference this year. We would like to thank the IAKL Foundation for taking on the vital role of conference host committee and working with our IAKL leadership and volunteers to make this conference happen. Many of the individuals on our host committee are long-time IAKL members and with their support, IAKL will continue to grow and flourish.

The theme of our conference is resilience. While the COVID-19 situation has significantly improved, we continue to feel its impacts: the increase of anti-Asian racist sentiments; the unprecedented changes to how we work and live; and in some cases, the loss of family and friends.

COVID-19 is not entirely behind us. However, we would like to take this opportunity to celebrate our resilience in these unprecedented times. The 2022 Annual IAKL Conference will provide an invaluable opportunity to come together with friends, both old and new, from around the world. We look forward to meeting and connecting with you, and sharing ideas on how we can continue to thrive as Korean legal professionals.
