(7 December, 2017) – Global law firm Reed Smith recently obtained clearance from competition authorities in the US and the European Union on behalf of client OOCL in its acquisition by COSCO Shipping. The proposed merger would see two of the biggest shipping lines in China combine to become one of the biggest lines in the container shipping liner sector.
Reed Smith has successfully obtained clearance for OOCL without the need for commitments.
The team was led by competition partner Marjorie Holmes in London. Partners Debra Dermody and Daniel Booker led on the US antitrust issues.
