NEW YORK - Global law firm Reed Smith today announced that it has advised Concord Music on its acquisition of legendary independent Latin music company Fania Records and Publishing from Codigo Entertainment.

The acquisition includes approximately 19,000 master recordings and 8,000 compositions, covering genres such as Latin big band, Afro-Cuban jazz, boogaloo, salsa and Latin R&B and includes artistic giants such as Celia Cruz, Willie Colón, Héctor Lavoe and Rubén Blades.

The Reed Smith team was led by Century City-based entertainment and media partner Steve Sessa and New York-based corporate partner Chris Sheaffer, with assistance from New York corporate partner James Tandler, Century City entertainment and media associates Mitch Manger and Josh Love, and New York corporate associates G.N. Smith Alpert and Matt Maggiacomo.
