BTI Consulting Group, publisher of the report, looked at 650 law firms and based its law firm rankings solely on feedback from corporate counsel.
The 15 original activities BTI uses to rank client relationships are: commitment to help; client focus; understanding of the client’s business; value for the dollar; legal skills; quality products; meeting core scope; keeping clients informed; dealing with unexpected changes; handling problems; anticipating client needs; innovative approaches; advice on business issues; bringing together national resources; and unprompted communication.
To respond to higher rates of high-stakes and bet-the-company work, BTI added two new criteria to the list: 1) excellence dealing with complexity; and 2) delivery of uniform service.
