Karides succeeds Ed Mullins, who served as office managing partner in Miami since its opening in 2017. With 22 lawyers, the Miami office is an important hub for supporting clients across the Gulf region and into Latin America. Key practices include international arbitration, financial services and insurance recovery.
“In under three years, our Miami office has developed a significant presence in the region as a result of strategically important lateral hires in our international arbitration and insurance recovery practices, strong leadership from Ed and his team, and the commitment of long tenured Reed Smith partners like Constantine,” said Sandy Thomas, Reed Smith’s Global Managing Partner. “Constantine has made many substantial contributions to our firm over the years, and is held in high esteem by his clients for his legal acumen and acute understanding of their businesses, key attributes as he assumes the leadership of our Miami office.”
“We are very pleased that Constantine has assumed leadership of our Miami office, a market of strategic significance to the firm,” said Doug Cameron, Managing Partner – Americas. “His exceptional business development and client relationship acumen will be invaluable as we pursue the continued growth of our presence in South Florida.”
“I want to thank Ed for his hard work and commitment that was required to lead a new office while simultaneously managing a thriving practice. Under Ed’s leadership, our Miami office experienced significant growth in terms of headcount and reputation within the market.”
Since joining Reed Smith more than 17 years ago, Karides has built a practice in which he counsels companies and funds in a wide range of matters including distressed credit and special situations transactions, private equity, restructurings, and corporate governance. He manages the firm's relationship with investment funds and is a trusted adviser in assisting them with strategy implementation. He has worked with entities across the corporate growth cycle from early stage private companies to established publicly traded entities. He also has considerable cross-border experience and acts for foreign companies operating in the United States.
Karides has served on the board of directors of the Florida Chamber of Commerce and is a new member of the Miami-Dade Beacon Council.
“Miami is a vibrant city with a thriving and global business community. Given that many of our clients have significant operations in South Florida with a growing market presence in Latin America, each with their own set of complex legal needs, we are very well positioned to meet those needs and beyond,” Karides said. “Building upon the leadership Ed provided since the inception of our office three years ago, I am eager to work with our local team and the broader Reed Smith global network as we continue to expand the firm’s brand in the region, with an emphasis on client service and delivery.”
