Donald is a partner in the Litigation Department of the Hong Kong office, having joined the firm as a trainee in 2010 and qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 2012.
Donald specialises in Hong Kong court litigation and international arbitration proceedings. He also regularly advises on insolvency issues and acts in regulatory inquiries and investigations.
The Legal 500 ranked Donald as a “Next Generation Partner” (2022-2024) and “Rising Star” (2021) in International Arbitration in Hong Kong and commended him for his “broad range of sector expertise that spans pharmaceuticals, financial services, transport, energy and technology”. Donald also has experience in disputes relating to other sectors including garment, precious metals, logistics, insurance, cryptocurrency and consumer goods.
Donald was named to the Legal 500’s inaugural Hong Kong Arbitration Powerlist in 2023, Asian Legal Business’ “Asia 40 Under 40” in 2023 and Hong Kong Business’ “10 Most Influential Lawyers Under 40” in 2022. Donald is a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators (FHKIArb). He is on the list of arbitrators of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), Hong Kong Maritime Arbitration Group (HKMAG), China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC), Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA) and Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC). He is the current Secretary of the Hong Kong Maritime Law Association (HKMLA).
Donald has been serving as a member of the Maritime Services Training Board (MSTB) of the Vocational Training Council as appointed by the Education Bureau of the HKSAR Government since 2021. In addition, he was a Lecturer in the Master of Laws (Arbitration & Dispute Resolution) Programme of The University of Hong Kong in 2017-2020.
Donald is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. He has been handling his matters in both Chinese and English on a daily basis for over a decade.
