AmCham Women in Business Committee will deliver a two part series on UAE Employment Law in Abu Dhabi. The first session will be hosted by Tania De Swart (Partner at Reed Smith LLP), Hana Al Khatib (Global Advocacy and Legal Counsel), and Mark Gilligan (Squire Patton Boggs). The first session will focus on employment contracts in general, highlighting rights, obligations, processes and procedures employers and employees should be aware of under UAE Labor Law. In this session the speakers will provide guidance on a typical employment contract and together explore the law and practice as it pertains to matters such as sponsorship; leave (annual leave, sick leave, maternity leave); working hours and overtime; the impact of the new Ministerial Decrees on process, terms, and termination; termination; restrictive covenants; severance pay and repatriation.
