(December 5, 2005, Los Angeles, CA) – Reed Smith LLP, a top-25 international law firm, has added Felicia Yu as a partner in its Financial Services Litigation Group, effective December 5. Ms. Yu will be resident in the firm’s Los Angeles office.
Ms. Yu joins the firm from Buchalter Nemer, where she was a shareholder.
“Felicia’s wealth of experience in credit card litigation and her reputation in the financial services industry will further strengthen our financial services litigation abilities nationwide,” said Mary Hackett, head of Reed Smith’s Financial Services Litigation Group. “We expect her extensive background in financial services litigation of all types to help us attain our strategic objectives within the practice. I know we will benefit particularly from the energy and enthusiasm she brings to our efforts.”
With significant experience representing corporate clients, banks, credit card issuers, mortgage companies and other financial institutions in both state and federal court, Ms. Yu’s practice spans general business and commercial litigation and financial institutions litigation in the areas of contract disputes, unfair competition, deceptive trade practices, creditors' rights, and fair debt collection practices.
“I welcome the opportunity Reed Smith affords me to build my own strong financial services litigation practice,” Ms. Yu says. “This firm has an outstanding reputation nationwide and is increasingly extending its services internationally. I view this move as a good fit from every perspective.”
With more than 35 members in the Financial Services Litigation Group, Reed Smith attorneys have successfully defended financial services clients in challenges to nearly every aspect of their business, including mortgages, credit cards, mutual funds, insurance products, insurance marketing and financing, automobile financing, subprime lending and other forms of financing.
