Global law firm Reed Smith has appointed Ranajoy Basu, a structured finance partner based in London, as the Co-Chair of its India Group. In his new role, Ranajoy will join long-standing India Group Co-Chair, international arbitration and litigation partner Gautam Bhattacharyya, to continue driving the firm’s India Group, which was established in 2000.

Reed Smith is recognised as having a leading India Group, which comprises a team of almost 50 lawyers who have extensive experience advising Indian clients on their outbound needs and international clients operating, or intending to operate, in India.

Ranajoy joined the firm in 2012 and was elected to partner in 2014. He is dual qualified in England and India and, having built a strong reputation as one of the Indian market’s leading international finance lawyers, has worked on a number of cross-border India related transactions.
