On her first day of contracts class at Duquesne University School of Law, Ginevra Ventre showed up wearing a T-shirt of Johann Sebastian Bach.

This amused her professor, the Pittsburgh legal legend John E. Murray.

He called her out to ask if she knew whose face she was wearing, wondering if this was a fashion statement or a kindred spirit.

Ms. Ventre knew Bach quite well. She was coming into law school after a reroute from a career as a concert cellist. Her new path was exciting and unnerving. Everyone in the class seemed different, even looked different, than the crew she’d been hanging around with at the conservatory.
