DALLAS – Reed Smith today announced that Chauncey M. Lane has joined the firm as a partner in its Global Corporate Group in the firm’s Dallas office. Lane is the fifth lateral partner to join the firm since the office opened in May with 16 lawyers. The Dallas office has doubled in size since its opening and now has 31 lawyers.

Lane was formerly a partner in the Dallas office of Husch Blackwell, and before that was an attorney for the Securities and Exchange Commission.

“Chauncey brings deep knowledge of complex commercial transactions, in both domestic and international markets, as well as significant experience with capital markets and securities compliance,” said Matthew Petersen, co-leader of the firm’s Global Corporate Group. “With his extensive public securities experience in both private practice and from his tenure at the Securities and Exchange Commission, Chauncey has a wealth of knowledge that will greatly benefit our clients in Dallas and across our global platform.”

Lane regularly advises domestic and international clients on buy- and sell-side mergers, divestitures, asset acquisitions, going-private transactions, debt and equity offerings and corporate governance. He also counsels private equity and venture capital fund sponsors on all aspects of fund formation, capital raises and investment adviser compliance, often serving as outside general counsel. His experience working in the Division of Corporation Finance of the SEC has made him a trusted advisor on SEC compliance and reporting matters. In addition, his ability to navigate U.S. capital market regulations and negotiate the most complex commercial transactions makes him an invaluable resource to his clients.
