Lim, who joins the firm from Shook Lin & Bok where he was partner since 2015, has extensive experience advising clients on a broad range of corporate and commercial transactions, particularly in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, capital markets, private equity and venture capital. He also advises listed companies and financial institutions on corporate governance, regulatory licensing and compliance matters.
In addition, Lim has substantial restructuring and insolvency experience and regularly advises both creditors and distressed companies on bankruptcy protection, schemes of arrangement, judicial management, administration and liquidation.
Lim’s clients include multinational corporations, financial institutions, listed companies and SMEs in the energy and natural resources, financial services, technology, education, transportation and logistics sectors, across Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Indonesia.
Lim’s arrival follows that of Collin Seah who joined the firm as a director in December 2019 from Quahe Woo & Palmer LLC.
Bernard Yee, managing director of Resource Law LLC, commented: “We’re excited to have Johnny join the team. He’s a leader in his field and well known in the market.
His technical know-how and in-depth appreciation of the local cultures and practices of various ASEAN nations, will be of great use to our clients throughout the region.”
“We are also delighted to have had Collin on board since December. He is an exceptional talent and, together with Johnny’s arrival, Resource Law is now strongly positioned in its breadth of service offering to our clients.”
Peter Zaman, Reed Smith’s Singapore office managing partner, said: “Resource Law has gone from strength to strength since we established our alliance in 2016. Both Johnny and Collin bolster the ranks and ensure that we can continue to support our clients with all their Singapore law related needs across a broad range of areas, particularly at this critical time.”
Lim said: “I’m very pleased to have joined the firm. My fellow directors are stand out names in the market and I look forward to working with them and further building my practice.”
Following the arrival of Johnny and Collin, and with the promotion of Adrian Aw to director in January 2020, Resource Law LLC now consists of five directors and seven other lawyers.
It offers the full service of advisory, transactional, corporate, and dispute resolution expertise in a number of Singapore’s core industries and practices including energy and natural resources, maritime, financial industries, insurance and life sciences.
