This year’s 2020 “Top Cybersecurity Lawyers” list recognized only 20 attorneys “at the cutting edge of cybersecurity, who advise companies on best practices and on navigating legal and regulatory mandates on privacy and data security.”

Bruno, who is a Certified privacy professional (CIPP/US) and a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), is honored this year for her trailblazing work in the new privacy regimes, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the SHIELD Act, and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Bruno’s 2020 “Top Cybersecurity Lawyer” profile highlighted her data security work across a broad range of industries – from major international electronics and amusement park companies, to health care and cosmetics. The 2020 profile spotlighted her client work for a multinational cable and entertainment corporation and its streaming service subsidiary in an audit of its data security operation and legal requirements in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Europe and Mexico. The profile further highlights her work for a manufacturer and distributor of food products related to its data collection and use, client loyalty programs, and data breach protection and incident response.

In her 2020 profile, Sarah also examined the unique challenges facing the health care industry during the Pandemic. These included balancing compliance obligation under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) while combating the coronavirus and potential malicious threats to their data. Bruno also discussed recently advising a multinational life sciences client on a ransomware attack, and the disturbing trend in which hackers are increasingly targeting health care companies.

Bruno, who is a Global Board Member for the International Social Media Association (ISMA), also handles a great deal in advertising and media. In addition to cybersecurity and data privacy, her experience in this space includes reviewing advertisements and claims, advising on unfair and deceptive trade practices and compliance issues relating to the Federal Trade Commission and the National Advertising Division (NAD) of the Better Business Bureau, as well as state and other regulatory laws.
