Sandy Thomas, Reed Smith’s Global Managing Partner, shared the following note to all personnel worldwide on March 22, 2021.

Last week’s shootings in Atlanta are a heartbreaking reminder of the past year’s rise in anti-Asian racism and violence and the long history of such incidents in the U.S. Reed Smith stands with our Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander lawyers, professional staff, clients, and communities. We condemn racism, sexism, and violence in all forms.

We are a values-driven firm and, as such, we simply must speak out against hate, educate ourselves, and serve as allies to those most impacted. I strongly encourage you to review the resources our Asian American Business Inclusion Group has put together.

We, together as a Team of 3,000, must be heard to support ending racism long after the current media cycle ends. In May, we’ll observe Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, another opportunity for all of us to reflect on the culture of those with whom we work and to deepen our understanding.
