Jenn Eppensteiner’s “Young Women in the Law Feature Article: What I’ve Learned from Nashville’s Rayna Jaymes” appeared in The Whisper, the online newsletter of the Defense Research Institute’s (DRI) Young Lawyers Committee, on December 19th. In her article, Jenn draws several lessons from the experiences of the fictional country star played by Connie Britton on ABC’s Nashville, and applies them to issues faced by female lawyers. Jenn encourages female attorneys to treat each other as members of a support network aimed at helping everybody succeed, rather than as competitors. At the same time, she points out that a female lawyer must supplement the support of her peers by being a strong advocate for herself and actively seeking opportunities to grow and succeed.
