Advised a leading European aircraft operating lessor in relation to its portfolio and asset management matters, including ongoing lease management of an A330, re-leasing, sales of A340 aircraft and its structured financing arrangements under an ABS.
Advised a leading U.S. private equity firm on its acquisition of a portfolio of €500 million sub-performing shipping loans.
Advised Deutsche Bank on the strategic disposal of a portfolio of US$1 billion in shipping loans spread across a diversified pool of maritime sponsors and sectors, which was the Global Transport Finance 2018 “Shipping Loan Portfolio Deal of the Year,” and for which Reed Smith was named Global Transport Finance 2018 “Loan Portfolio Advisor of the Year.”
Advising Floreat Aviation Fund and Doric Aviation on the "Aviation ABS Deal of the Year", Global Transport Finance Awards 2017, in relation to setting up its fund and securitisation programme focussed on the aviation sector with its first issuance concluded in December 2016 for up to US$175m of notes (including a compartment of Sharia-compliant notes) financing a portfolio of A330 aircraft.
Advised a leading UK bank in connection with a securitization program to repackage a wide variety of asset-backed loans (comprising shipping and aviation assets) guaranteed by various export credit agencies.
Advising Stellwagen and Seraph Aviation Management (as servicer) on the Airfinance Journal “Sale and Leaseback Deal of the Year” 2016 and the Airline Economics “Best Islamic Finance Deal”, an innovative structured sale/lease back of an A380 for Emirates in conjunction with Dubai Islamic Bank and German arranger EMP Structured Assets. The deal included a traditional senior loan and an Ijarah (Islamic) lease structure.
