With one source describing practice head Astigarraga as “brilliant,” the publication noted that he has been growing the firm’s international arbitration practice since joining in 2017, adding capabilities, for example, in the firm’s New York office.

Reed Smith's other prominent Miami-based international arbitration lawyers named in the Legal 500 editorial are Cristina Cárdenas, Eduardo de la Peña Bernal, Sujey Herrera,  Edward Mullins and Felipe Berer. Berer, a native of Brazil working on disputes and insolvency proceedings in that country, was given a mention in a “City Focus: Miami” editorial feature in the rankings.

The publication also named New York-based James Duffy (whose specialty is life sciences), and counsel Ben Love (experienced in investor-state disputes), as well as Houston-based Francisco Rivero (who has a particular focus on energy sector disputes).
