Justin is a senior associate in Reed Smith’s Transportation Industry Group. In his practice, he helps clients navigate complex disputes, including civil and criminal litigation and investigations. He has also assisted clients with internal investigations, regulatory enforcement, and False Claims Act litigation.
Justin is a litigator with trial experience, including first-chair trial experience in Virginia state courts and experience as second-chair counsel in a multi-day jury trial and a six-day bench trial. He handles matters through all stages of litigation, from the initial complaint or answer and preliminary motions, through discovery, dispositive motions, trial, post-trial motions, and appeal. He has represented clients, including major airlines, in disputes relating to contracts, torts, business separation, construction, and real estate. He also has specific experience in the aviation and shipping industries. As part of his aviation practice, he has regularly represented a major U.S. airline in litigation in federal and state courts throughout the country.
He also has significant experience with litigation in the Eastern District of Virginia, known as the “Rocket Docket” where Justin clerked for a federal judge prior to joining Reed Smith. He uses this experience to help clients navigate the speed of this Court and its unique local practices. Justin also has an active pro bono practice where he assists with housing matters and civil protective orders. Justin is also part of the Pro Bono Counsel Program with the Office of the Federal Public Defender, Eastern District of Virginia, which provides assistance to indigent clients in criminal proceedings in federal court. Outside of his practice, his passions include travel, rock climbing, and sailing.
