Sven is a senior associate in the Munich office of Reed Smith and member of the Emerging Technologies Group.
Sven focuses his work on legal matters that involve data protection, IT, commercial, internet, social media, e-commerce, IP, and unfair competition law.
Sven advises his global and local clients on all areas of data protection law, including GDPR compliance and strategy, international data transfers, data subject rights, transparency, data incidents, product development, user experience, website and app compliance, online platforms, big data, internet of things, artificial intelligence, data commercialization, and digital transformation. In addition, Sven represents clients before EU data protection supervisory authorities and in data protection litigation.
He also counsels clients on digital marketing and advertising with a particular focus on adtech, cookies and direct marketing. Sven’s practice also includes negotiating IT, cloud computing and commercial contracts, and assisting clients in tech transactions and global procurement.
Drawing on his in-house experience from a secondment in the privacy department of a global tech company, Sven always focuses on the commercial impact and also finding innovative compliance solutions that keep up with dynamic legal frameworks. He regularly represents German and global companies across multiple sectors, including technology, adtech, cloud, retail, consumer products, media, entertainment, sports, transportation, travel and health care.
Sven studied law as well as business at Bayreuth University and obtained his LL.M. degree in Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law at Fordham University School of Law in New York City.
Sven is CIPP/E certified under the IAPP certification scheme for privacy professionals and is also a Fellow at the Fordham IP Institute.
Sven regularly publishes articles on current issues in IT and data protection law. He was recognized as a Legal Influencer for TMT – Europe by Lexology in Q3 2019.
