(October 1, 2007, San Francisco) – Reed Smith LLP, one of the 15 largest law firms in the world, has added Devin Rainey Cuyler as a partner in the Corporate & Securities Group resident in the firm’s San Francisco office, effective Oct. 1, 2007.

Mr. Cuyler was formerly a partner in the Global Sourcing Practice in the San Francisco office of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman. His practice focuses on global technology transactions, particularly global sourcing, licensing, sales and distribution arrangements. These matters span various industries, including IT sourcing, telecommunications services and life sciences technology.  Mr. Cuyler is also experienced in handling business process sourcing transactions in the United States, Europe and Asia. He has represented clients at virtually every stage of the supply chain, including development and manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, transportation, distribution and retail sales arrangements.

“Devin has been exceptionally successful at helping companies of all sizes in sourcing their information technology functions,” said John Iino, Reed Smith’s firmwide Corporate & Securities Practice Group Leader. “His arrival provides us with a strategic opportunity to support our growing West Coast transactional practice and to further develop opportunities in the sourcing transactions area.  Devin has the background and experience to connect solidly with our technology and life science clients, particularly in Silicon Valley, Southern California and San Diego.  He’ll also provide technology licensing and intellectual property experience for IT-oriented M&A deals on the West Coast, as well as in Asia and Europe, and will play a leading role in capturing additional global sourcing work, domestically and abroad.”

Mr. Cuyler earned his J.D., cum laude, from John Marshall School of Law in 1994, and his two undergraduate degrees in biology and philosophy from the University of South Florida in 1990.

“Reed Smith’s relationship-based approach to clients was a key factor in my decision to join the firm,” Mr. Cuyler said. “In addition, we share the same practical approach to providing legal services. The firm’s strong international platform in the U.K., Europe and the Middle East will be a tremendous fit for my international sourcing capabilities.  I bring lots of enthusiasm and expect to be able to make a significant contribution to the growing corporate team.”
