Bryan Tan, Information Technology Law (Lawyer of the Year)

Tan is a technology, media & telecoms partner well known for acting on IT-related transactions. He advises on venture capital investments into fast-growing technology companies, and cryptocurrency projects. He is also well-versed in cyber security, data protection and trade facilitation matters. His client base spans a range of sectors, including video games, fintech, VC funds, health care, telecoms and technology. He was first featured in 2008.

Charmian Aw, Media Law

Aw works on data protection, compliance and enforcement. She advises on AI solutions, transitioning to electronic platforms, cloud migration, and procurement/integration of IT systems. Having obtained certifications in information privacy for Asia, Europe and the United States, Charmian has spearheaded multijurisdictional projects on regulatory compliance, data governance, cybersecurity readiness, and cross-border transfers. She is a counsel in the firm’s Global Corporate Group in Singapore. It is her second time on the list.

Calvin Chan, Arbitration and Mediation

Chan, a partner in the Global Regulatory Enforcement Group based in the firm’s Singapore office, is recognized for his work in arbitration and mediation, and he appears on the list for the eighth consecutive year. In addition to his skill in arbitration and litigation, Chan is also a trusted authority on internal investigations.

Kyri Evagora, Energy Law

Evagora is the firm’s managing partner for the Asia-Pacific region. He was leader of the firm’s Energy and Natural Resources Group from 2007 to 2017; and vice chair of the Business and Finance Department from 2017 to 2020. Now working in the firm’s Singapore office, Evagora is an international disputes and commercial lawyer to global multinational clients in the energy and natural resources sector. He is receiving this honor for the second time.

Matthew Gorman, Capital Markets Law

Gorman, a Singapore-based partner in the Energy and Natural Resources Group, receives this accolade for his work in capital markets law for the 10th time. Gorman advises clients on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and equity issues. He advises on private equity and venture capital deals acting on both the buy side and sell side.

Timothy Cooke, Arbitration and Mediation

An international arbitration partner in Singapore, Cooke represents clients in commercial disputes, particularly those involving foreign investments in Asia, and regularly sits as sole, co- and presiding arbitrator. He wrote International Arbitration in Singapore: Legislation and Materials, a comprehensive guide to the law and practice of international arbitration in Singapore. He was listed by Best Lawyers for the first time in 2020.
