Greg is a seasoned litigator and trial lawyer with extensive knowledge in various areas of law. His has significant experience litigating complex matters involving commercial, financial, telemarketing, corporate, product liability, aviation, shipping, consumer, logistical, insurance, and wrongful death disputes. Greg has experience handling litigation in both federal and state courts across the country as well as in complex arbitration proceedings. He has substantial experience arguing complex trial court motions, taking and defending fact and expert depositions, and handling matters involving injunctive and declaratory relief. Greg is a member of the firm’s Retail and Consumer Goods practice with a focus on representing consumer goods brands.
In addition to his active litigation practice, Greg provides close counseling and guidance to his clients. Often, this requires a review of current commercial contracts, strategic actions to transfer risk, and an assessment of applicable regulatory compliance. He also counsels clients on M&A opportunities and strategy. Greg enjoys building relationships and partnering with his clients, by learning their business and knowing their people. Greg recently served on Reed Smith’s Executive Committee.
While Greg has experience prosecuting and defending all types of complex litigation, he has a particular focus on the following areas of law:
Commercial litigation: Greg has significant experience in complex contractual disputes, including “bet-the-company” litigation and matters involving emergent, injunctive relief. Greg litigates cases involving alleged breaches of nondisclosure agreements, supplier agreements, corporate/partnership agreements, operating or lease agreements, licensing agreements, noncompete agreements, and warranties, as well as UCC matters involving the sale of goods. He has successfully handled such cases in various courts across the country, as well as in arbitration settings. Greg counsels clients on contract language, such as insurance considerations and indemnification provisions, to avoid or transfer risk. He also provides counsel to companies seeking M&A opportunities.
Product liability: Over the years, Greg has successfully defended manufacturers of aviation, commercial, industrial, chemical, recreational, and automotive products in complex and high-value matters, often involving claims of wrongful death or catastrophic injury. He has also successfully handled numerous wrongful death cases in various courts across the country and has extensive experience in cases involving brain injuries, electrocution, amputation, and burns.
Financial/consumer/telemarketing litigation: Greg has handled major litigation involving alleged telemarketing violations, and thus is intimately familiar with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Telemarketing and Consumer Fraud and Abuse Prevention Act, as well as certain regulations promulgated thereunder, including the Telemarketing Sales Rule. In addition, Greg has counseled clients regarding financing disputes and has deep experience guiding consumer goods manufacturers, as well as those in the food and beverage and retail space, on various topics such as trade, sanctions, logistics, torts, class actions, environmental claims, and advertising/labeling litigation.
Aviation/shipping: Greg has handled numerous product liability cases for some of the world’s leading aviation manufacturers in their most challenging and high-value cases. He has also successfully defended several major airlines in various litigation matters, including failure to divert, breach of contract, premises liability, personal injury, discrimination, and false arrest. In addition, Greg counsels aviation clients on regulatory compliance matters, risk, and M&A opportunities. Greg’s interest in aviation has also allowed him to counsel clients on topics such as Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and drones.
