Six partners at global law firm Reed Smith have received accolades for delivering excellent client service from the International Law Office and Lexology in their Client Choice Awards 2017.

A trio of London-based partners were recognised in the awards: Leon Stephenson for banking, Carolyn Pepper for media and entertainment, and Charles Weller for shipping and transport.

In the United States, Office Managing Partner for New York Cindy Schmitt Minniti received recognition for her labor and employment practice, while Pittsburgh-based Ericson Kimbel was noted for construction, and Michael Lowell in Washington, D.C. came out on top for international trade.

The Client Choice awards, established in 2005, recognise firms and partners who stand apart for their excellent client care and quality of service. Nominations can only be made by in-house counsel, and the criteria for recognition focuses on the ability to add real value to clients’ business above and beyond others in the market.

The winners are selected following a readership survey of International Law Office and Lexology’s in-house counsel subscribers, as well as through gathering feedback at international in-house counsel events and via the Client Choice website. Clients are asked to rate lawyers and law firms on their: quality of legal advice, commercial awareness, industry knowledge, strategic thinking, billing transparency, tailored fee structures, value for money, responsiveness, effective communication, clarity of documentation, sharing of expertise, appropriate staffing, project management, use of technology, loyalty and ethics.
