Lizbeth has extensive experience advising U.S. and international clients on U.S. export controls and trade sanctions, and conducting related internal investigations, audits and gap assessments.
She regularly assists clients in the development, drafting and implementation of customized export compliance systems to help minimize the risk of non-compliance while meeting her client’s business needs.
She routinely represents clients in civil and criminal investigations involving potential or apparent violations of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and trade sanctions regulations implemented by the Office of Foreign Assets Controls.
Her practice involved the drafting of export compliance manuals and implementing procedures, technology control plans, export and trade sanctions voluntary disclosures, license applications, technical assistance agreements, commodity jurisdiction requests, classification requests, and other compliance and regulatory documents. She also assists clients conduct required export compliance due diligence related to mergers and acquisitions.
Lizbeth has led, or participated in, several directed audits, and gap assessments designed to test compliance with the ITAR and the EAR. She has participated in audits of Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) compliance programs.
Lizbeth also frequently writes and presents on the latest international trade issues and developments for organizations such as the World Trade Center Denver, Export Compliance Manager and Bloomberg Law.
