Sophie works with some of the largest and most innovative online media and tech companies, delivering cutting-edge advice about copyright, data ownership, audiovisual media regulation, hyperlinking, the use of copyright protected material for text and data mining, the use of copyright content in AI development, the ethics of AI and the EU AI Act. In 2023 Sophie took a leading role in creating the Reed Smith Entertainment and Media Guide to AI.

Sophie is frequently sought out for her counsel on ‘safe harbour’ rules for user-generated content (UGC) platforms. She has advised a significant number of household names on their compliance with safe harbour rules under the eCommerce directive, Article 17 of the Copyright directive, and, today, the Digital Services Act. Additionally, Sophie has led extensive research comparing the different safe harbour regimes across the world to EU and US standards.

Sophie has significant experience in music (especially in multi-territorial licensing), videogames, social media, video and audio content and in advising companies operating in cutting-edge areas, including the next breed of entertainment and media services relying on artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain (including NFTs) or the latest content recognition technology. A former in-house lawyer, Sophie is highly commercial, practical, solution-focused and always attentive to industry dynamics. She is known as the go-to lawyer for innovation and first-of-its-kind content-based product launches.

For two years, Sophie was in charge of delivering a class on European and International copyright law to students in Alexandra Bensamoun’s master's program at her alma mater, la Faculté Jean Monnet.

Sophie also worked for the European Commission as chair of the working group that led to the creation of the Music Moves Europe programme.
