René is a partner in the Firm’s Munich office and a member of the Real Estate Group of Reed Smith. His practice focuses on banking and finance matters, especially in the fields of real estate finance, acquisition finance and debt restructuring.
René has substantial experience advising clients on all legal aspects of national and international real estate transactions, including cross-border sale and leaseback and project development, acquisition finance, portfolio deals, structured real estate lending and funds finance. Furthermore, René regularly advises on the acquisition, restructuring and refinancing of large portfolios of non-performing loans backed by commercial real estate and subsequent asset management.
René also has extensive knowledge of banking regulatory and investment law and acts for clients wishing to conduct banking activities and offer financial products in Germany in accordance with German regulatory law and the requirements of BaFin, the German financial supervisory authority. This includes the establishment and structuring of funds, obtaining banking and financial services licences, and the launch, administration and distribution of financial products in Germany.
